The March 7 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting contained three agenda items:
1 - Public Hearing for 7 Brew Coffee at 1506 Route 9 (where the former Sonic Restaurant was located) No public comments and the request for a set-back variance was granted.
2 - A Discussion regarding a request for a variance to the regulation that states that front lawn fences are not to be over 4 feet in height. The applicant lives on Route 9D and is requesting to install a 6 foot fence in his front yard. The extenuating circumstances leading the applicant to request this variance is that his family includes a son who is neurodivergent - which means he is very senstive to loud noises and has no sense of danger to himself. The applicant is hoping to buffer some of the noise (he has been in touch with NYS DOT) and as a barrier to keep his son safe. He has installed new windows, which has helped with some of the noise, but in the area that he lives, Route 9D is straightway is an attractive place to be used as a race track. The public hearing is scheduled for March 24.
3 - Approved an updated Area Variance Application Form.
The meeting was then adjourned, members of the public left, and on-going discussions, unrecorded, continued among staff and board members.
