Vote Affecting 76% of your Property Tax Bill - May 19
One of the most important messages coming from the May 11 Wappingers Town Board Meeting was the reminder that 76% of your property taxes are school taxes. So while the Town Board, The Fire Departments and the County continue to scrub their costs, these reductions have a small material effect on your annual tax bill. The day that a voter can have input on this large portion of their tax bill -- is May 19. Last year a surprising small number of individuals voted for proposi

Town of Wappinger a step closer to a "Central Park"
The Highlight of the March 23 Town Board Meeting was a presentation made by Supervisor Cavaccini on the proposed purchase of approximately 326 acres known as Cranberry Hill. This was in preparation for votes on a series of resolutions that would enable the Supervisor to negotiate with the owner and apply for a grant to make the purchase. These 326 acres stretch from Imperial Boulevard almost to All Angels Hill Road - stretching to Widmer Road, surrounding RC Ketcham and Me

Reports from Town Departments now included in Town Board Agenda
In the Town Board Agenda, there is a line item "Correspondance Log" which is approved during the "Consent Agenda" portion of the meeting. This is very rarely discussed, and usually contains updates from the Town Justices and a few misc. items. In the February 23rd Agenda, reports from Town Departments were filed, and while initially it may seem to be dry reading, over time this will provide powerful insights to where the town departments are spending time and resources. No more large monopoles in Wappinger?
The most interesting part of the February 9 Town Board Meeting came near the end of the agenda - when the Supervisor was discussing items for special consideration/new business -- and he and the council person from Ward 3 were relating their meeting with Verizon, where Verizon is adding small scale cellular installations (on top of utility poles) in the Ward 3 area, which will improve cellular coverage in those neighborhoods -- they mentioned that they expressed to Verizon

Watch out for Big Puddles - it could be a water main break
In this day in which everything is being monitored through blue-tooth and wifi -- your health, your door locks, your HVAC systems, your car and your driving habits; when your financial company can send you a text or an email about a transaction before you have bagged the item ... apparently the Town of Wappinger municipal water system is relying on residents to notify the Town when they see a large puddle emerging. The January 12, 2026 Town Board meeting agenda held numero

Getting ready for 2026
The December 8 Town Board Meeting , with 4 members in attendance, consisted of a wrap of 2025 and getting teed up for 2026. That triggered the thanks and adulation from fellow council members, expressing their thanks for Angela's service on the planning board and the town board and ackno

Lessons in Accounting, Who is a Sr., Postal Service Issues, Fed Shutdown - oh Yes 2026 Town Budget Passed
The November 10 Town Board Meeting was a "can of worms" of statements, questions, issues - After the normal beginning -- it opened with a public hearing on the budget. A resident complimented the Supervisor's actions over two years and said that his budget reflected that. Then began the discussions involving seniors... where did the $$ for the Senior Garden Club go? (it is there.. and will be made a separate line item), then a long discussion about how municipal accounting
