Extension to multi-family building moratorium
The Town Board held a "special" meeting on April 20th at 3 PM to address some pressing items.
First up - an executive session.
When the board returned, the agenda was updated and approved. Then the public portion of the meeting.
Public Portion - 2 speakers - on the proposal to changes some parcels in town to 5 acre zoning.
1) A resident who lives on Old Hopewell Road with 15 acres that borders Sucich Place. He explained that he just filed a plan with the town to subdivide his 15 acres into 11 lots. He would like his lot to be removed from the list of potential lots that would be subject to the change in zoning requirements.
2) A resident who lives on Myers Corners Road in a house built in 1732, which he noted was built by one of the area's first developers - his property is also on the list of potential properties that would be subjected to the zoning code change. He thought a compromise of having the back part of his property changed to the upgraded zoning requirement, while the front portion, currently surrounded by commercial properties, be changed to commercial use would make sense.
The board then went on to approve the setting of a public hearing (April 27) to extend the Building Moratorium, which was voted on in March of 2025, be extended 90 days so that the board could hold a workshop on how to develop a consistent methodology on determining what lots would be subject to 5 acre zoning requirements, taking into account water districts, water districts that may have been planned but never implemented etc.
The resolution to change the Town Zoning Map to include more parcels in 5 acre zoning was tabled. The Board will schedule a workshop which would enable them to develop an approach to what properties would be included in the zoning code change.
The Board voted to allow the Town Supervisor to make an offer to a candidate for a code inspector.
The board approved the hiring of a laborer for the Building and Grounds department
The board voted to approve the termination of an employee.
The board voted to accept the retirement of the current dog control officer and to appoint a new dog control officer.
