Operatic Performance & Fatigue at October 10 Zoning Board Meeting

The October 10 Zoning Board Meeting started with a re-opening of the Public Hearing for the Proposed Alpine Commons Multi-Family Workforce Housing project.

The attorney representing the applicant displayed a full range of emotions throughout the hearing - Angry at the Board for taking so long, Combative with ZBA members, Dropping broad hints that suits will follow, Jumping from point to point, Asserting that the ZBA had all the material they had asked for and were only asking questions to stall. It was quite a performance and the board and audience should be commended for enduring it. The citizens in the audience were respectful and listened to the drama for well over an hour and then began to address the board with their comments. They thanked the board for doing the work they are doing reminded the board that the ZBA representing the citizens and are charged with protecting the residents quality of life. Both sides are fatigued from going to meetings trying to make their respective points, but the Public Hearing will remain open to allow follow-up information to be provided.

After a break - two applicants' requests for variances were approved

- Covered front porch on Macintosch Lane

- an Existing Shed on Smith Crossing Road

Four New requests for Variances were discussed:

- Replacement of a current garage with a larger garage on Widmer Road

- Legalization of an addition to a shed on DeGarmo Hills Road

- Variance to rebuild a smaller than code requires house on Stonykill Road (wetlands prevent explansion of foot print

- Upgrade of front steps on .
