Public Hearing on 2026 Town Budget set for November 10

The October 27th Wappinger Town Board Meeting was another short meeting. Two Public Hearings - with no public comments, the Public Portion didn't elicit any comments - because not a lot on the agenda to comment on -- the 2026 Preliminary Budget presented by the Supervisor in a special meeting earlier this month was approved with a Public Hearing on the Budget set for November 10th, during a regular Town Board Meeting.

Public Hearing to be held at a regular meeting of the Town Board on October 27, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York for the purposes of hearing and considering any objections which may be made to the proposed budgets and the proposed quarterly O&M Charges, Rates and Rents to be levied against the properties within the Special Improvement Districts and Special Improvement Areas in the Town of Wappinger, as noted below, for Fiscal Year 2026.

Resolutions passed in a "Consent Agenda" - (no discussion... just the name of the resolution read):
Proposed Atlas Well Field Improvement - declaring the Town the Lead Agency and the Project as an unlisted action
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger has received requests for additional connections from in-district and out of district properties that will significantly impact the existing source capacity and its ability to accommodate emergency situations. Furthermore, water quality sampling has intermittently revealed PFOA and PFOS contaminants in one of the other wells fields, further threatening the source capacity; and
WHEREAS, the Town proposes the disconnection and formal abandonment of the existing Atlas Well 5 and the addition of two (2) wells that will yield approximately 350 gallons per minute (gpm) to ensure adequate water supply to accommodate current and future demand

Authorizing Payment for Emerency Town Hall Septic Pump Station and Control Panel Replacement
Town’s contracted water and sewer operator, CAMO Pollution Control, Inc., is authorized to perform emergency work, which included the replacement of the original septic pump station infrastructure, installation of new electrical components, and a new transducer pump controller; and
WHEREAS, the Town has now received an invoice from CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. in the amount of Twenty-Two Thousand Dollars ($22,000.00) for the completion of said emergency work; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board finds said work to have been necessary, properly completed, and in the best interest of the Town to protect public property and health; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger hereby authorizes payment in the amount of $22,000.00 to CAMO Pollution Control, Inc. for the emergency replacement of the Town Hall septic pump station and control panel

These resolutions -- are referring to 2025 rates etc. -- have checked in with Town Clerk to see if this is in error -- but the good news ... they were approved!

New from the Town according to your elected officiations:
Devasting Fire on Smith Crossing Road over the weekend. Lives of pets lost.
Head on collision on Meyers Corners Road.
In each event, First Responders performed well.
Emergency Prepardness training - two sessions held. Available on-line.
Town's Recycling Center Roll-off Truck has arrived and will enable cost savings in the town.
Recycle Center is looking at e-waste, tires, paper,scrap metal- as potential services/revenue opportunities.
Sign Shop is now operational. The First Ward Council Person Reminded us again that Private Road Signs need to be standardized.
Adam's had a grand re-opening.
Proposed Zoning Changes being drafted - emphasizing open space preservation/agricultural activities.
Early Voting now available -- and on election day -- individuals can go to any Polling Station in the town and receive/cast the correct ballot for their residence.
Trunk or Treat attended by about 400 children.
Please be careful Halloween night with children walking on the streets.
The Clocks will be turned back this coming weekend.
