The September 22nd Town of Wappinger board meeting was another short meeting..even with all the congratulations and compliments for how well everything is doing (of course, in some cases we can only just take their word for it -- where are the finance reports, project updates etc.?) the meeting was conducted in 30 minutes. And -- adding to the string of absences since the June 17th (!) meeting... the ward 2 council person did not make an appearence. Funny how when being elected to a two year term... there isn't a clause .. it is a two year term, unless guaranteed another winning election - and then you can stop fulfilling the job to which you were elected. Guess the nomination/primary process worked earlier this year.

Non-Consent Agenda (discussion) - both were approved

  • Resolution authoizing the installation of Data Reading technology for the United Water District - this service will allow the use of cellular technology to read water meters in realy time, giving residents visibility to their water usage - which will help identify leaks/issues earlier. This will be funded through the water district

  • Resolution scheduling a public hearing for October 14th to extend by six months local law #1 from 2024 w “A Local Law the Regulation For An Interim Period, The Receipt, Processing And Approval Of Applications For Subdivisions Greater Than Three Lots And Applications For Multi-Family Residential Development Within The Town Of Wappinger” (the “Local Law Extension”)

Items for Special Consideration or New Business -- or the part where Town Board Members pat themselves (sometimes Town Staff) on the back and sometimes sneak in things they have heard in the news media that they think would be good sound bites.

Carnifall 2025 was a successful/beautiful fall festival, with new rides. The event generates revenue - it is not funded by tax payers. Jessica Fulton and her team did a great job as well as the building and grounds department.
